GARDEN CITY STRENGTH & CONDITIONING PROGRAM

The Garden City Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Program introduce students to the world of strength training. Our program centers on the basic human movements (Push, Pull, Hinge, Squat, Loaded Carry and Groundwork/Corework) and focuses on teaching students how to move properly prior to loading the body. Safety is a major focus, as students need to learn how to avoid injury and accidents while in the weight training room. Half-credit courses are offered at the 11G (Intro Exercise Science - Gr. 9) and the 35G (Principles of Strength and Conditioning - Gr. 11/12) level.

WHO ARE THE INSTRUCTORS?

All coaches are continually reading and taking part in professional development in order to learn new methods and techniques to share with our students. The quality of coaching at GC is of the highest standard and certainly among the best at any high school in Manitoba.

The Hockey Skills Academy is entering its seventh year at Garden City Collegiate. We operate out of Seven Oaks Arena where students participate in skill development sessions focusing on improving their fundamental skating, puck handling, and scoring skills. We are an inclusive program that has student-athletes playing elite levels of hockey as well as students who just enjoy playing the game recreationally. Regardless of your skill level, our program is designed to improve your fundamental skills so that you can maximize your performance and enjoyment of the great game of hockey. Our program director (Dustin Hughes) is a certified Hockey Canada Skills Coach as well as a Hockey Canada High Performance Coach.
